I do love my car and really don't like the idea of scrapping it or stripping it down and selling it for parts. The thought of having a normal car replacing my mini just doesnt work for me. I'd end up leaving the forum and I can't do that. I've travelled to the Nurburgring twice in this car as well as various mini shows and other runs. I can't part with it!
As you may know, I am not mechanically minded, so I wouldn't have a clue where to start with changing the engine and gearbox.
Thank you for the offers of engines and gearboxes, very kind of you. With all these we should beable to work out what will be best for my mini.
Also Thank you for offering to travel accross to help me out, really appreciate that but to save you travelling I'll use the local help... ofcourse advice is always welcome
Going back to the suggestions of working on the car at my house, it is not feasable because of where I live. Also, the idea of storing it in a garage, I don't have a garage and my mini is my only car, which I use everyday so it needs to be fixed as soon as possible. As I am short of money I can't afford the luxury of renting a garage either or keeping it stored while I run another car while it gets fixed. So for now I'll be relying on lifts to get me to uni and places.
I spoke to retrodan who has agreed to pick the car up, take the engine and gearbox out and do the changeover when we have found a suitable replacement 1275 engine and gearbox.
So I am looking for a 1275 engine that is in good condition and a gearbox to match. Can people keep a look out for these and get back to me.
