Finally got the shell spun over. Annoyingly there wasn't quite enough clearance to spin the shell with the suspension fitted so I had to spend quite some time loosening seized bolts to get the radius arm and front hub off.

And this is what I'm dealing with. I think the previous owners were being a bit beyond their abilities. Full floor the only option.

I don't think the 'repairs' were ever completed, and it was laid up for 30 years...

Petrol tank out; that was a challenge.

I think most of this grot is actually off the tank.

My Dad used to say 'a blind man on a galloping horse would be glad to see it!" although in this case i'm not so sure :-)

Once you've finished with it the car will be fabulous though, I have one of these to restore (an all steel traveller) and i'm watching this with interest.  I can't remember what mine was like as its been years since I've seen it (tucked in my mums garage).

Anyone had any experience with these panels? Will be needing A posts I'm sure. And I'll not be faffing around with pattern inner A panels either this time.

Hi,

Yeah that's why I asked, never seen them before. I guess they put them on for vibration but I was concerned about water retention.

Looks like that wasn't a problem though?

Cheers  :proud:

I used those full a panels on my mk2 and used heritage inner a panels, pretty good fit only needed minimal adjustment, far easier than using the usual type of outer panel.
