So still moving on although its a bit slow at the mo and most of what I'm doing is small snagging jobs and revisits..Fuel tank has been powder coated and has come up a treat..new rear subframe will be trial fitted before the shell goes to paint just waiting on a new fitting kit as I've not had a subframe in since repairs..should fit as i made a small jig to be safe...

I'm thinking about getting my tank powder coated - did you get it media blasted 1st?
Hi Yes..it was in good condition to start with but i had it gently blasted to get it back to raw metal followed by a light sparkle silver..

Big tick off the list..the long awaited 'will the subframe fit ' moment after all the surgery...answer is yes all went well..more small jobs to deal with but all of the heavy work is complete..getting nearer to the point to send it away for prep and paint..

Thanks glad its proving useful and hope it helps with your progress..Talking of progress still chipping away at small jobs and nothing picture worthy as it still looks the same..popped to see the guy i originally bought the van off yesterday who happens to be a painter who is going to paint the van..End off the month is set to take the van and let him work his magic..He's just finished painting a MK1 cortina and its very nice so if mines is as good it will do nicely..

So still pushing on behind the scenes..my rear doors although in great condition both had slight bulging on both lower edges..which meant rust so both had new lower sections made up and replaced...the new roof vent panel is nearly finished and I'm just making up a former to make the grille surround..i can keep on tinkering but its more or less ready to go off for paint ..which is next saturday any things that turn up there can be dealt with as needed..need to decide on a colour as still not sure ??

Thanks..yes its P section brass trim used on various classics such a jags for wood dash and trim surrounds ..it looks fatter in the picture than it does in the flesh...its filled with lead so when you start to bend it the P section doesn't collapse..both ends are made just the centre piece to link the two to do ..
