Hi All..been on here a while looking as a guest but thought i'd better sign up and create my van project thread..Bare with me as i need to get up to speed with uploading pictures etc...Ive and owned restored many minis but never a van..this came up through a friend and at first i never gave it a thought..only when the owner mentioned selling it my attention changed..Story short i became its new owner and began work imediately and have worked on it every day since late FEB...I have all the pics of progress so far so will get them on here soon..Its a full resto requiring all the usual mini van issues ..complete floors/sills/load area ..inner wings..etc..etc..Im already 80% through with just the front end to replace...This is a dilemma at the mo as I've read so many issues with genuine panels NOT fitting well as apposed to non gen fitting well..Can anyone advise on this or is it a case of make the best of what you have..Thanks..

Hi it would be great to see some photos once you have uploaded, sounds like you have done loads of work to it.
I have has the same issue with genuine panels not fitted its a case of having a look about M-machine are very good and not had a bad panel from them but a lot of heritage panels are poor fitting.

Wow that looks to be a really decent shell to start off with, far better than mine haha
I look forward to seeing your progress, what are you plans for it back to original spec or are you modifying it?

Thanks minimissions and yes the shell is very good..i have tried via the dvla to trace its history but they will not release any info..the guy i brought it from restores cars for a living and this was going to be his..time money etc got in the way hence the reason he sold it..he purchased it 3 years ago with arches and 13"wheels fitted..he is very into keeping things original and planned to restore is as standard..As for me yes I'm a lover of originality but i also like subtle mods which is the way its going..period paint..rose petals or something unique ..it came fitted with disks hi los and coil springs which was a bonus..engine is a warm 1000cc.. hot cam.. ported head.. twin carbs.. maniflow lcb system again already fitted so once the body is complete mechanically its just a case of clean paint/replace as necessary and refit...i mentioned earlier that its 80% finished thats the body not the complete car..im hoping in the next 3 weeks the front will be on just waiting on panels..will post more pics later ..

That sounds like a great build and it is along the same sort of lines mine will be original paint with but with some period mods.
