Don't suppose you paid with paypalWas at machine shop today, it does need boring and honing and crank needs grinding! But one of the bores has had a piston ligner in at some point so this will make it more complicated to bore, thus making it really expensive to sort. So been in touch with ebay seller hopefully we can sort something out, but as he sold it me saying all bores good condition when I asked if any issues, I don't think I will have much luck.
Ebay eh love hate thing, sometimes you just get caught out! sometimes you get a great deal.

While I am disappointed for you, like all secondhand private sales, it's always caveat emptor - buyer beware or from the dictionary "the principle that the buyer alone is responsible for checking the quality and suitability of goods before a purchase is made."
I think it's always safer when buying privately to be prepared that the item is 'second hand' or go have a look. Much as we'd like to, you can't rely on the word of others and besides that, a small detail that might not be important or over looked by them could be in fact why you are buying the item.
Some sell stuff because it is surplus to them and others because it's no good.

Yep went through paypal, in process of a return via ebay, but no response yet after a couple of days, ebay will probably have to step in and hopefully see it in my favour.

I would have gone to look if I could but it was too far away, so you can only go on what the seller tells you and if you ask a specific question and they say all good then you have to take their word, so this is just deceit if what they said isn't the case, he would have been aware of the pitting as cylinder head wasn't tightened up, also said new bearing were fitted and they aren't.
Checking isn't always an option, asking lots of questions before hand is.

That's good then. If you haven't already then attach pictures to backup your claim. Give them every reason to pay up.

Sounds like you have it covered, Ebay should back you up,
As above make sure you send good pictures and some from the machine shop / crank and even the link to this TMF thread.
I have had it before with stuff damaged in transit and not as described, got a part refund, which maybe an option to cover the cost to sort it out.
