Hi thinking of putting twin Yamaha TDM 850 carbs in my mini 1000 that's currently got a hs4 1.5 su in it.
Is this a massive job and can anyone advise with link to a twin su inlet manifold via SDRAM 600 mounting rubbers or similar and jet/mix advce
I've ben given a nice pair of Yamaha TDM 850 Carbs so I'm thinking of conversion 😁
Cheers all Simon

Ive said this when someone asked about fitting Bandit carbs - if this is just a fun engineering project, knock yourself out! If you think this will help performance, forget it.
First off and its been covered many times recently, twin carbs are not needed for most, if not all, road going cars.
On top of that you will likely find it very difficult to get tuning parts for those carbs. You need someone with a stock of bike needles (assuming they are CD type) but with facilities to tune cars - an odd mix. My anecdote on that point is that for my Bandit, really common bike, I still had to buy parts from the USA and that was just to allow the bike to run with very minor changes (air filter and exhaust). It would have been impossible to do more as there are no aftermarket needles, Id have to turn my own or find another bike that used the profile I needed (most bike manufacturers only use a small range of carbs).
If it were my choice to make, Id sell the carbs and buy Mini parts.

Yeah good point , thought it myself about the needle supply and prob just look different rather than give it a boost on power , not keen n my current su as think the waxstats playing up so might go for a pre-waxstat hs4 or try a twin hs2 with manifold perhaps.

If its a near standard 998 twins will be a waste of time and money. If you want rid of the waxstat switch to a HIF38.

Ok Icey that I will do as I'm a bit strapped and if its not going to make any great difference like you say what's the point 👍 cheer's
