Hi

I have Halfords HBO75 - 500cca and 56ah - fits snugly and  £65  with a trade card at Halfords.....(£82 retail)

.

Most  batteries  come with a decent warranty - at least 3 years .......5 on the more expensive ones from H Fords

Funnily enough..... mine tend to "play up" within 6 months of warranty expiry on my cars,  and motor factors  are happy to exchange for a new one  if they show as not up to par on the test machine in store  :shy: . Just ensure that  make a note on your phone calendar of the expiry date and keep the receipt.

The 075 battery has  been on my 1.9 VW diesel camper ( 1982 T25 Devon Conversion with later Golf 1.9 engine fitted )   for a few years before being transplanted to the mini.... so the battery must be knocking on for 5 yrs old now..., (must dig out that guarantee)

Overkill admittedly.... but never let me down and  radio / alarm won't drain it  if left for long periods without use and engine spins over sweetly.

Is there a list anywhere that gives the size codes that will fit a mini battery box ?

That would make it easy to compare costs and spec across ranges

It seems that some different brands have their own but others adopt an across the board reference code

So far it would be.....

  • 027
  • 063
  • 065
  • 075

Within those sizes there are different cca, ah ratings and prices to chose from.

The problem with a traditional lead acid battery is when they are not used for long periods they silt up between the plates which eventually kills them.

I had a Halfords own make that was actually a Yuasa which are excellent by the way but due to lack of constant the battery died three years into its five year warranty. No problem i`ll just dig the receipt out and get it replaced i thought but the ink had disintegrated and I was left with a piece of paper.

Now I photo copy them.....and use a trickle charger but its not the same as proper use.

On my vintage bikes I use the deep cycle batteries as used on mobility scooters and kids toys, with a five year standby there are no worries.

Will this fit inside the battery cavity? If so, looks to be more powerful than the 027 I shared.

I did. Just don't trust Li-on technology, especially with a fuel tank in the rear.

The key word is estate, no battery cavity in an estate.

Excellent value for money alternative to the Bosch. I believe both are made by Varta?
