What a dissapointment after all the hard work and so near to completion, what speed were you doing?

Hard to tell Speedo decided to give up, I expect whilst it sounded loud, probably no more that 30.  I live in Wales where 20 is plenty.
Speedo was ok, then bounced around before stopping.

Just another task of classic car ownership

Wow its been a long time since I’ve been here.

Visit to Mini show today and picking up a few bits has provided inspiration for an update

following the disappointment I of damage to scuttle and paint i decided a quick repair to allow for some use over what was left off summer.

I had another go at pushing out the dents, welded the tear, straightened out the drip channel.
Removed the flacking paint and prepped for a prime and paint.   The filling will happen when it goes to a professional, will need the windscreen surround and scuttle to be painted, hopefully being fresh paint it will bend into the joint between wing and scuttle.

Not perfect, not even close but it will prevent rust until its done

Wasn’t sure about the head being modified for unleaded so I purchased a head from Steve at SG Moto

had the right spec

12G940 head  unleaded inserts fitted, 35.6mm inlet 29.4mm exhaust,

160lb double valve springs.

stripped off the current head to find some worn shiny bores with a little more that light scoring.
Its also bored to +20

Any ideas?

Added a new set of rockers at the same time.

Took a lot of time to get them gapped correctly, would have though after the first 2 that it would be possible to remember which way to turn spanned and Allen key!!

Oil change at the same time, not happy with what was on the sump plug.

It runs, i can drive it

Who wants a car that just runs, needs to be the best it can be.  Booked a visit for AC Dodd

very happy with the outcome.

Made use of my own sensor for tuning, went out several times to get it right.   Airbox now looks like Swiss Cheese so many holes drilled it.

Needed a new dizzy to replace the new dizzy fitted by a local garage.  That one didn’t have the right curve for my car.

Turned out ok.

Finished off all the interior, new rear parcel shelf cover, trimmed out the dash and fitted the air vents

Cars looking good, and after AC's visit running great, all that's left for you to do is enjoy putting some miles on it.
