I got the front sub frame back today

EISeH32.jpg

oQHLDUE.jpg

I carried out some minor repairs to it and then degreased ready for primer

Once the primer had hardened, I took it out and flatted the primer to bury the minor pitting.

Here it is hung back in the booth ready for paint

I also hung the rear frame

rCMvBX4.jpg

YOtV65Z.jpg

And then gloss black

Here are the bits from the other day

The pitting on the brake back plates is quite deep and I'm not happy with that finish so I shall flat them, re-paint and then if needs be, ill flat them again and re-paint until the pitting is buried leaving a smooth flat finish.

I started de-greasing the radius arms

I cleaned the rust off of them after that was taken but have no picture yet.

More to clean and paint tomorrow!

Cheers

Ben

Fantastic work Ben, just read this from the beginning. It's a cracking project and the client is going to have a stunning car when it's finished looking at your other work

Lovely work on the running gear, Ben. Very excited to see it as the components are assembled.

They would probably have been more of a satin finish.

I have painted them gloss as this is what the customer has requested.

Cheers

I mentioned in my last post that I wasn't happy with the backing plates for the rear brakes so I flatted them down and gave them 2 coats of HS surfacer

This has made quite a difference to the pitting and it is now much less visible.

I did the rad shroud too as this was pitted in places.

I then primed up the radius arms and a few other bits and pieces

Once that was done, I started to build up the front subframe

So far, that is new adjustable bottom arms, adjustable tie bars, Hi-Lo's and new cones. I have also fitted new knuckles, bushes and bump stops.

Cheers

Ben

I love it! I get so envious when I see these freshly rebuilt subframes with new components fitted. They always look better than new. What is the planned date of completion for this project?

Cheers!

I would think it would be ready within 4 weeks. It all depends on when I get the shell back
