Sorry for the late rely, been really busy at work, where the inner wing meets the seems to fit ok at the moment, bearing in mind it is clamped in place at the moment.

Well it's been awhile since my last update so hear we go, couldn't get a replacement bulkhead crossmember for a Mk1 so had to cut of both ends and fabricate new ends fro scratch

 

 

 

 

 

 

With both end rebuilt then I could fit the inner wings

 

 

Once the wings were welded in place I decided to take a break from the welding and did some work on the engine and gearbox, so I started of by stripping down the engine

 

 

 

 

So its a complete strip down and rebuild by the looks then

So now the engines in bits, what to do? Stripped the gearbox down and placed an order with Mini Spares and built myself a 4 syncro straight cut box with central oil pickup and cross pin diff with 3.44:1 ratio and a set of 1:1 straight cut drop gears, unfortunately I didn't get any picture of the finished box before it was reattached to the engine.

Now the engine was a different kettle of fish altogether, it was completely stripped and sent away for a rebore +20, new flat top pistons, the head

 

was also sent away to have some work done, new hardened seats, new valve guides and valves and a skim. 

when all the bits came back the engine was treated to a coat of BMC green then the assembly began, new SW5 cam, variable cam gear and duplex chain, upgraded rockershaft and forged rockers, the carbs underwent a complete strip down and rebuild as well
