I've removed the little plastic thing in the engine bay and was just wondering what people have done instead of the massive plastic thing being there. If you've chosen to remove it and the pipe what have you done to stop water getting into through the vent?

Also what is the little bit of metal called the heater pipe connects to (On the right hand side of the picture)

I was going to leave it off too but decided to put it back and have a fresh air supply into the car - makes all the difference demisting the screen. If you do take the elephants trunk off then you will need to blank off the two holes where the air distribution box (I think that's what it's called) is bolted under the wing (one is a feed to the heater the other to the vent in the dash) - which is a right fiddly job, then blank off the hole in the engine bay. Much easier to re-fit the plastic bend - as I found out :shy:

These are the type of thing you need, but easily made at home.

But be prepared to find a bit of a mess when you pull the distribution box out

My dad welds them up on all our minis, on my estate there was a two fist size hole where the fresh air intake should have been

I cut mine down a bit so it's not looking so bulky, It's much better having it there in the summer for fresh air to the cabin rather than the window down.

also DSN sell the heater take off, cheaper and nicer looking not sure if this is the one you need  but similar. http://www.dsnclassi...t-vertical-5-8/

We remove all ducting from the front grille under the wing and then the ducting and the box cold air box(there are 4 nuts inside the car above the pedal box).

He then welds plates in from the wheel arch(outside) then etch prime, seal and stone chip then paint

Hi there, do you have a photo of how the hose under the drivers wing connects to the plastic distribution box that allows into the car?
