Wasn't even a cooper, just a replica (1000). Someone on Facebook did an mot check on it. A right long list of failures on the failure sheet!Hi all
I caught this programme last night as I watch all the various car programs of this type and was amazed at how nobody pointed out the validity of it being a Cooper S variant. In fact it wasn't even up to standard Cooper speck.
The engine looked to me as though it was a Goldseal factory recon job, single carb. although the shell could have been an S as it did appear to have twin tanks (so long as the second one wasn't a stuck on dummy one) and we did not see any of the suspension or brakes.
As previously stated by other members it was never referred to as a Cooper S in the voice over or by any of the other participants of the show other than the 2 presenters.but I would have thought for legal reasons Quest would have made it clear to the viewers that it was in fact not a Cooper S.
I had hoped that this programme would have gone some way fill the gap that WD left since it's new format but alas it's at the bottom of my list now.
Just as a side bar to my comments a bit of background info. Before moving on to classic fast Fords, I now own a 3dr Cosworth 330BHP etc, I had in the past a tweaked 850cc Mini followed by a 1071cc Cooper S and I have had the pleasure of driving Pat Moss's works Cooper S.
I'am looking forward to reading all the comments on the programme from the rest of you guys
Happy mining

Has anyone here since purchased the car?
Fwiw I did like it, I just wouldn't pay the £7k premium for the vin plate plus whatever huddersfield wanted on top.
Huddersfield still have it and will be taking it to shows.
so they say.

Its apparently on the Huddersfield stand at Bingley, although I did think about
going to have a look in their place, in my local area but never been in or used them.

Well its registered as a Morris Mini 1000, still shown as beige, doesn't even have spacered rear drums (I've watched it again),so if I buy & fit the badges my car could be a Cooper S, even though its a 93 non Cooper model, all I'd need is a 1969 V5 ! I won't be doing that as its illegal.
See https://cartaxcheck....1631.1516909691 for the V5 info & MOT history.

I saw the episode last night. 11k for that ugly reshelled mini, with the wrong interior, etc. No way, lol!

Mk4 'shell, Mk2 logbook, dual line brakes, the thing should be on a Q-plate! Still, as long as it's shiny, right?!
It's a £4k car with its correct late 70s/ early 80s I.D. in my opinion..

That Drew really grates on me. Think he is quite self absorbed
Grates on me now. I used to enjoy his programme but I now think he's starting to believe his own hype.

These shows are all a big load of bull when it comes to money, it wouldn't work if they said, we bought it for 5K, spent 7k on it and sold it for 4 which is probably what happened. Still 8K cost for an hours TV is probably a bargain!
