Front Wheel Arch Cutting

The car is almost ready to go to paint so want to do this prior.
Obviously I am very nervous about doing this. Are there any guides on where to cut and how much? Anyone with pictures of when they cut theirs would be awesome.
Thanks in advance for your help.

is it not with 13'' wheels you need to cut arches,
i've run 10x6 for years and never cut any arches and never any rubbing.

There is supposed to be details on Minispares website. I did have a look the other night but no joy.
I looked on there too because when I searched on here, thats what people had said they used

Thats interesting to hear. What wheels have you got? The consensus the other day was anything over 4.5 then the arches will need modifying.
Thanks. Will have a read of that. This is how I trimmed mine

What wheels did you have?I ran 10x6 with crushed rubber(dead suspension) on my first mini for 5 years, never rubbed one bit...
The issue I have is the car is due to go to paint and I dont fancy cutting arches afterwards.
Unfortunately I dont have the front suspension built up or the wheels.- sadly not got funds for that yet. Hoping to get them at bingley

Had a mini once with 12 x 5 and had to cut the front half of the arch in an arc about an inch wide at the front edge.
Im assuming 10 x 5 needs no mods.

The only real way of knowing is to fit the wheels you want on the car and check clearances. But i had not issues with mine...

Wheel width, wheel off set, tyre size and brand, track width - different brake setups create different track width, drums are narrowest, 7.5" & 8.4" are wider and vented metro are the widest causing more tyre/ wing fouling issues. Any wheel spacers will make it worse too.
Castor angle has a big effect as does ride height. Different wheel arch extension designs cause different fouling problems as well.
Finally the body itself, they weren't very accurately built at the factory, if the wings and front end have been replaced clearances could be different again.
You really need to build it up before paint to get it right.

i will say again every Mini i have had needed the wings trimming when on any wheel with a 165/70-10 tyres.
you cant really guess it.
