Hi I have a D reg Mini in bit's  with registration number, engine with iD plate but no chassis plate or v5 I dont know if it is MK1 or 2 as no back end, any advice would be welcome. Tom

manufacturing dates were 59-67 but it is easy to spot the differences. year of registration has little to do with anything.

You need the date of manufacture, not the registration date.

If it is D reg then it was first registered in 1966. It might have been manufactured earlier, but it will be a Mk.1 unless it has been re-shelled into a Mk.2 shell due to accident or corrosion damage.
