I've just read through your blog - that's an epic build! Worth anyone contemplating restoring a Jag reading to see the complexity and sheer amount of work involved as a deterrent! Keep it up. It will probably make you weep that about 10 years ago I bought a good 3.8 engine and auto gearbox for £150! Sold the gearbox for £50 and the engine for @ £750.
What really makes me weep is that I gave a 4.2 engine (short stud) to the scrap man about 15 years ago as it was siezed from standing, now I could have rebuilt it and added massivly to the cars value. The later 4.2's with the long studs can be troublesome.
There isn't anything complicated about a MK2 Jag its just that there is a lot of it and everything is heavy, for example I can just about lift the bare engine block on my own but walking with it is difficult. I managed to do this with the 3.8 one a few years back and lifting the 2.4 one now I don't know how I managed it as the 2.4 block is a few inches shorter in height.
