This is my current project thats getting in the way of me starting my mini 
It's the first 3.8 MK2 built and was originally LHD but converted to RHD at the factory (this is noted in the build records). I bought it off a guy who had planned to banger race it but lost interest, that would have been a sad end for it.

I'd love to do a MK2 - have you re-built the engine?

Yes the engine needed a crank grind, rebore, valve guides, head skim and all the associated work.
Rather strangely the engine had three types of piston, two different types were standard size and one piston was +010. Although it ran ok and had good oil pressure it seemed sensible to rebuild while it was out as its a big engine to take in and out.

The seats arn't too bad, a bit cracked and hard but i'm going to try and refurbish them.
I have re-laquered the wood and it looks good, dash needs a few more coats though.
I've fitted a new headlining which wasn't too bad to do.

Nice job! not the easiest cars to restore well done, did you redo the lead loading on
the front?
Have done a lot of work on Jaguars over the years restored a MK2 for a friend about
20yrs ago and after that a 1972 XJ6 series 111 4.2 manual, it was always my plan to
get an E type to restore.

Thanks its the original one and is a Coventry number, its quite fitting as this is the first 3.8 MK2 jag and the first E-Type was 9600HP.

Thanks its certainly been a labour of love, I did some bits of lead but finished off with body filler.
The last one I did (a 1966 S-Type 3.8 I used almost all lead and it was a major task, not sure if its really any benefit as the lead still pushes out when the rust is coming from behind.
I sold that one a few years back for 7K and saw it earlier this year at a dealers In Yorkshire for 27K, I think they were a bit hopeful!
