Hi Everyone

I have been browsing this forum for a number of years whilst very slowly carrying out my own re-build project and have finally decided to document the build and share my experiences to date.

Me and my dad purchased the mini in May 2012 because it was cheap and we always talked about restoring an old mini. Although i really like the roundnose mini's we decided to get a clubman as they were cheaper (although i now realise the cost difference from that initial purchase is insignificant to the overall project cost) and also because there is sentimental value and nostalgia with the clubman as its the first car my dad bought my mum before they were married.

Attached are the photos of the car when we picked it up and got it home. It was located in a chicken coop on a farm and had been neglected for quite some time. The previous owner had purchased it so that him and his son could restore it but they gave up after only stripping bits of the interior and removing the engine (original 998cc engine still remains on the pallet that was used to pick it up over 5 years ago)

i will continue putting sorting through the photos and posting them progressively untill i get to my current stage.

Was your Clubman an Aussie GT? Looks like it has the wider lips for the GT arches and the Rostyles.  Good luck with getting the project back on track :)

unfortunately its not a GT, it was a Clubman LS with a 998cc however I will be putting a 1275A+ engine in it as part of the build.

Here are some photos of stripping down the car, this process was made a little easier as the previous owner had already removed the engine and quite a few of the interior parts however very tittle care appeared to be taken when doing so as nothing was labelled and all bolts and hardware was thrown into a communal bucket.

Needless to say, this was a lot of fun and I think the only time I had my whole family helping me throughout the build as they were all excited also.

Yeah compared to some of the other resto projects i have seen on here it wasn't too bad but still had its fair share of rust that needed to be fixed. I managed to borrow a welder for what was meant to be a few months ended up being a few years from one of my dads friends who owned a panel beater shop.

Taught myself to MIG weld from watching youtube video's and a lot of practice prior to digging into the mini.

Below are some of the detailed photos when it came back from the sand blaster.
