Hi Andy

How do you know Mini owners are buying the terrible kits and the market just isn't saturated / reducing? Have sales increased since creating this topic?

I checked eBay listings and I'd agree with earlier comments, it would be good to have more pictures of the item actually fitted in a car - as it is so hard to judge the difference in quality online!

To save weight, I don't even have a spare wheel in the boot  ;-)

I think you're missing one point here - you're assuming people like the cheap kit.

Maybe you should add to your poll:

"I bought the kit as it was the cheapest I could find (and how bad can they be?!).  However I am not really happy with it but can't afford to buy a replacement better one."

Hey Paul,

Thanks for the response, but as I mentioned in my previous response... we are only interested in hearing from people who purchased the cheap kit and think that it's a good piece of kit.

We know the market, we know what we are doing with our boot lining kits (that's why we are developing new kits)... not sure what else we can say really.

I had no idea how complicated asking peoples opinions would be... are you all really bored? I can create a different poll for those of you who just want to talk about boot lining kits if you like?

Regards,

Andy @ Optimise Automotive

That would be the option "Something else (please let us know)?".

No one has done anything but try and help.

The first half of my original reply did sort of relate to what you're asking. How are people meant to make an informed decision between buying a cheap and nasty boot liner off eBay or buying a quality item if the product page for the quality item doesn't actually inform the customer it's of a higher quality?

No it wouldn't as the question says "Why do you like..." maybe if it said "Why did you buy...."

Looks like we will be going around in circles here...

As I said, thank you for the responses, but it's of no help (and I regrettably don't know how else I can say that to make it sound any better).

We have asked for opinions from people who have purchased and owned the cheap kit, that's all we are looking for. Your response I'm afraid doesn't relate to owning a boot lining kit in the slightest.

Have a good weekend guys, I'm sorry this has turned out this way... it was meant to be a bit of research into the cheap kit and from that, we were going to see if we should offer one.

Regards,

Andy @ Optimise Automotive

Maybe link the cheap kit?

So far the only kit I've managed to find on eBay was yours being sold under a different name.

Honestly if your kit is better, don't imitate the inferior ones.

Hi!

With me it's down to bank balance and what the mini needs doing to it this month! Im usually only able to go for the more expensive options on safety critical mechanical items that keep it running smoothly and safely and I have to scrimp on the other nicer bits...I guess a lot of people are the same nowadays unfortunately.

I was just about to buy one of the cheap eBay kits, then I was lucky enough to recieve a voucher for you guys and bought a boot board which is awesome and fits like a dream! So glad I didn't have to get a crappy one that didn't fit properly...but I would've because it would have done the job and been a cost saving.

If you do end up making a cheaper one, I like how the mini spares website points out the negatives about buying the cheaper option and shows if there is a better, more expensive option to go for and you can weigh up if it's worth the extra for you or if you'd rather bodge it and see!

Hope that helps!

All the best

I think by going off topic in the way it has, would give you more insight into what the customer is looking for.

The forum would mostly consist of experienced enthusiasts, who will be looking for better option to buy.

I personally am quite interested in the ideas and solutions that forum members are looking into and solving!

Someone mentioned earlier that they would like it to look original.

Most of the kits available don't include anything for the inside of the boot lid and the things that are available don't look very good including the compressed cardboard version offered by Newton Commercial and who wants to drill a load of holes and then use self tapping screws to hold the thing on.

So l'd like a boot lining kit that included an inner boot lid covering that looks original.

Good afternoon TMF,

With the launch of our new boot lining kit range I wanted to come back to this thread, as it went completely off track and ended badly. As I mentioned a few times (in my responses), thank you for your detailed responses and I'll come back to that in a bit, but first of all...

We launched our new range of boot lining kits last week, please see our new product thread in the traders section for details: LINK

Back to this thread:

Firstly (as I mentioned in previous responses), we created this thread to find out about the cheap budget boot liners (the £35 inc P&P ones). However, this thread went completely off track and regrettably a majority of the responses unfortunately misunderstood the initial poll and question.

As above, we would like to thank you all for taking the time out to make such detailed responses - we genuinely mean that, it's nice to hear from you. We do listen to our customers, this is why we are continually developing the entire product range and why we had already made the decision to redevelop our boot lining kit range (as detailed in my initial post in this thread). Regrettably, in this instance though, your replies were too late (and I am sorry about that), we already know what everyone wants from a boot lining kit and we had already developed the new boot lining kit range when I set this thread up - everything was already on the website and ready to go, minus the final costings (which we were finalising at the time of this thread).

To explain in a little more detail:

We chat with you guys on a daily basis (our daily emails and phone calls) and also chat with you at shows, we have heard everything suggested in this thread before (except the lightweight option, we hadn't heard that before) and we know exactly what you would like from a boot lining kit. Many of the things mentioned in this thread are the kind of thing we do offer, as bespoke options (and I responded to those posts with bespoke options and in some instances, costings). They are however, not the kind of thing that can be offered as a kit for the masses.

As I have mentioned a few times (and sorry again for this), we didn't ask about boot lining kits - we asked for opinions from people who own the cheap boot lining kit. Please accept our apologies for the misunderstanding (I was obviously not clear enough in my initial post and with the poll question and/or options).

Anyway... Over the past 6 months or so we have been working hard to put bespoke options pages together on the website (we have already added dashboard and centre console bespoke pages - door card, seat cover, parcel shelf board and dash trim pages are to follow shortly) and as part of our new range of boot lining kits, we had already put the bespoke boot lining kit page together.

Following on from this thread we did make one slight alteration to our bespoke boot lining kit page and we added the lightweight carbon fibre option.

The finished bespoke page can be found on the website here: LINK

As you can see, the page includes a number of different options - all of which are popular modifications (and many of which have been mentioned within this thread), they are the type of thing that we actually do all the time, as part of our complete bespoke interiors (the three examples are previous projects commissioned by customers).

And secondly (and finally), we are still interested to hear from anyone who has a budget boot lining kit and we would still like to know if you guys think we should offer one.

Regards,

Andy @ Optimise Automotive
