Looking good mate

Bet you have this finished and be onto your next job well before mine sees the road

Ps I broke a tooth once bloody agony

Hope it gets sorted

Mark

Thanks Mark. When does your's come back from paint?

Great progress Ben.....love the right hand side filler neck hole, that must have been a sweaty palms moment :-)

Look forward to seeing the body in a fresh coat of paint soon! Is the owner going for period straight from the gun finish or mirror smooth colour sand/polish?

Thanks!

I was considering having a practice run but after finding the centre of the marked out circle on the panel, I just went for it and it cut beautifully.

I am aiming to paint the car towards the end of next week.

The existing paintwork is fairly recent and is a gun finish so I will most likely match that and then if a flat and polish is preferred by the customer, then I can polish the front end to match.

Should be this week Ben
I asked him to hang onto it over Christmas so I could make room in the garage
Jays mini is currently in there but that’s going for a bit of paint rectification
I picked up the doors boot and bonnet and have been building them up in the meantime

Loving the work on this car Ben, and have recently read all of your other project threads. Fantastic workmanship!

I've sent you a message regarding my own car.

So here is what I have been up to the past two days.

I finished the external prep by flatting down the door aperture frames, A panels and roof gutters.

But the bulk of the work has been sorting out the floor which has lots of surface rust and is really knocked about with plenty of large dents and also some random holes all over the place with rivets in them.

This won't do.

Here are two of the holes mentioned after I welded them up

RXz08xt.jpg

There were 7 this side and 6 the other as well as tow larger holes in the heel pans with rusty bolts in them??

Part way through doing the n/s

And after lots of bashing, grinding and cleaning back rust, one side is done

And then the other side had the same treatment. I had to have an assistant to hold the dolly for me whilst I dressed out the main and frankly bad buckled areas.

I think they came out pretty good considering.

The underside has had the same treatment but I keep forgetting to get photos.

Well that's the main bits done so time to manouver the car into the booth for the finishing touches under better light and the painting can begin.

Superb, that floor looks brand new!

I'd be tempted to just pay you to carry on and strip the front end and respray the whole car now if I was the customer.

Thanks chaps.

Pete, I wouldn't be able to do the front end this time now as I am running behind with my restoration work but sometimes this is the way it is, things often take longer or unexpected things crop up.

I have Mini's queuing up!

I believe the customer is planning to have the front end replaced at some point. The outer panels are pretty good but it's the inner wings that need to be replaced ideally.

I have left my repairs to the front of the floor and the flitches in such a way that any work carried out on the front in the future can be done without any problems and won't disturb things too much.

Ben

I have the orange 1275GT that i repaired last year.

It's back in to have some accident damage repaired.

After that, so far is the Pink Mini we have and there is another coming down the end of the month :-)

It's still sat untouched sadly.

The people that live in the house where it is stored are moving soon so I need to make a plan for it
