my car started out as a B reg 85 mini mayfair, it was a 998 auto

and then it became a 1275 automatic from a 83 metro

 

and then i swapped in a d16z6 itb manual trans and drove it around suffolk alittle bit

 

and then i moved back to the states

 

here is the early years of my rebuild

I replaced the floors, the rocker panels, the inner fenders, the boot floor, the lower half of the side body panel in front of the rear wheels, the doors, the corners of the windshield and closer panel for it,

the rear roll pan and the closer for that panel

and de-seamed the car as well

shaved the bumpers

and fixed the dents in the roof

and cut out the rear seat bins on each side

and replaced the inner and outer metal that the front doors hang off of

 

the side panel had a rust hole under the pop out windows

and the side panel in front of the rear wheels had cardboard and p38 over that

 

when I took the rear subframe off, the front bolts broke, so I grinded them off and welded in new nuts on the inside of the subframe front mount panel

at the time I was thinking of making the mini a wide body mini

pulled motor a few weeks ago, going to swap the built manual lsd d16z6 itb motor for a stock d16z6 automatic

I hurt my hips and can no longer drive a manual car, I have had double hip surgery and can only drive automatic cars now

the donor car, 1995 Honda del sol si, I got it at a dealer auction place for $275USD, $180 USD auction fee, $16USD sales tax

it had one bad sensor and then it passed the smog test

 

I drove the donor car around for almost 6 weeks

I replaced the 02 sensor and this iat sensor, and the fan switch sensor, and the thermostat and I had to replace the in-car fuse box

 

I wanted to drive the car around to make sure it had no bugs in it

here is the paperwork for the smog test

 

the 1st fail was because the iat sensor was bad

and the light for the check engine light didn't work, so i had to figure that out and i found the iat was bad

I got a new gates timing belt kit and a oem water pump for the donor car because the cluster says it has 202k miles on it

 

but when I removed the valve cover, no way this motor has 202k miles on it

 

and then I also noticed that it has a gates timing belt and aftermarket water pump, and it has a blue head gasket, which I think is a felpro head gasket

 

I think this motor was rebuilt not to long ago

 

I need to buy a Carfax report on this car, but I have a buddy that said he can look it up for free

so I'm waiting for him to look it up for me, but he's taking his sweet time

 

 

so I'm thinking since I have a new timing belt kit for this donor motor, for peace of mind, change it anyways

because I have no vehicle maintenance history on this car
