Perfect! Thanks for all the input everyone! Greatly appreciated, and I'm looking forward to getting this done so I can proceed with the project!

So, here I am again.  LOL.  I tried a 1lb copper hammer with no luck.  So I purchased https://www.amazon.c...pf_rd_i=desktop and I believe it will work....but...I put it in and attach the castle nut and to my surprise the splines don't fit into the hole to allow it to pull it out.  So is there a difference in pullers where some would have a larger opening for the spline section?  Or am I just crazy.  I'm about to lose my mind.  I hope that all makes sense.  This is the section I am saying it won't fit through.

Hi, please could you put up a photo of the tool in situ, to show where the problem is? Might just be the way you've assembled the tool over the CV joint. The flicker link doesn't seem to work by the way.

Just noticed in the Amazon link that the ID of the collar is 30mm. Have been to the garage to measure the one I have and it is 31mm but not sure whether the additional mm is significant or not?

Whats the difference in size between the internal dia of the puller and the external dia of the joint spline?

That is what I believe is the problem.  I can take a picture of it all together later this evening, but from what you are saying that 1mm does make a difference.  It pulls until it gets to the spline and then there is no place to go from there.  From all of the videos I've watched on youtube the spline section fits easily into the opening, but not so here.

The collar isn't intended to fit over the splined section, only the adjacent, smaller diameter, threaded section at the end of the joint. It will work, but you might need to really tighten the hub nut against the collar and it should pop the joint (this is what I did after a few attempts), or you might need a packing shim behind the collar so that the hub nut starts pulling the joint a little sooner. Keep trying, you're nearly there!

I'll give it a whirl later tonight.  I'll try and space it out a bit more to allow it to pull earlier.  Thanks for the pointers.

Master D, a 1 pound copper hammer will definitely not do the trick, you need a 4 pound copper hammer. :proud:
