Checking end float with dial gauge I have 5 thou thrust washers fitted either side as recommended by machine shop and said to check it , the dial gauge is showing 0.12mm end float which I think is 4.7 thou end float of math is correct this is to big??? Next size available seems to be 10 thou washers with will make it too small or an I missing something ???

Your maths is correct. 4.7 thou is within tolerance, however is towards the upper limit, and so if I was do I a re build I would be aiming for around 2 thou. If I'm honest I thought the only oversize thrusts available were 3 and 30 thou. You will therefore need to machine down the larger thrusts to reach the correct figure.

stick with what you've got, I aim for .005" - better off with too much than too little - too little can grab when the crank flexes at high RPM
