I'm sure i read somewhere that someone had developed a crawler for his own images.
Looked on to sites they knew where they were used (like a forum) found the image on the photobucket site, uploaded it to imgur and then edited the posts with the new links.
However i can't find the blasted site it was on!

Wonder if anyone can/will offer some code to overwrite the links. Can't imagine it'd be too hard if you keep the same filenames.

I am a huge fan of imgur.com. Endless free hosting and you can create albums and get direct image links for induvidual images as well.

No doubt in my mind it WILL change. I think it's unrealistic to think these places will continue on the same way indefinitely. But for now, I think imgur is the best place for this kind of application.

Imgur is a different kind of site to Photobucket.
Imgur is a lot like 9gag, about meme's, gifs and all sort of other stuff. The bulk of their traffic comes from something going viral, as will most of the revenue coming from those viral images, heavily reliant on ad revenue in the same vein as Google is.
Photobucket and Imageshack are sites that are there to try and serve you services which for the vast majority of the time no one purchases. With more and more people having broadband and pictures getting greater in resolution there obviously hasn't been enough revenue coming in from services sold to compensate for the increase in storage costs. So they've chosen something very drastic.
Imgur is a safer bet going forward for hosting pictures than those previously. Imgur changing policy would be akin to Google or Facebook charging for their services. Unlikely and would be detrimental. Heck i'd even say they would be a good buy for a big tech company.

We (Optimise Automtoive) host lots of images using Photobucket... we have the Plus20 account (have done for years).
Just looked into it further and found this:
If you were a Plus Account subscriber in good standing as of June 1, 2017, you will continue to have all the privileges you have enjoyed including 3rd Party Hosting until December 31, 2018 as long as you maintain your subscription.
Non Plus 500 Account subscribers that purchased after June 1, 2017 will not have access to 3rd Party Hosting.
There was me thinking we had got away with it... looks like we have lots of photos to re-host on the website before Christmas 2018.

Where did you get that info from. I have the Plus 50 account and need to know if that applies to me as well. If so then they can take a flying leap and i will transfer everything to Imgur.

Now surely an opportunity for someone to come up with some programme that lets you suck all your photos from photobucket and host them on another cheaper site without having to rename all attached photos.

Righto, need to find out when my subscription is due again to tell them to do one. Just need to swap over all my pictures then. Oh the bloody joys. Thanks for the link.
