Bloody fuming, come back from holiday to find this... My build thread is 42 pages long, like hell am I fixing that!!

One thing I have just noticed though, is that if I right click on broken imag and go 'open in new tab', then wait for it to load, if I go back to the broken image I originally clicked on, then the image is fixed! Would have to do it for every image though, and who knows how long before they disappear again...

Thats because when you open the image it is then cached on your computer, you're then not hot linking the image just merely seeing the cache when you go back to the thread.

So Imgur has an hourly upload limit, might take me a while to transfer all my pics then :(

I've just transferred nearly 2500 images onto imgur, most of them last night, without any problem.

I'm holding tight with mine for now, once they've lost their advertising income and the storage space becomes free after everyone has gone maybe things will change.

I remember being on dial up internet, it became painfully slow but it actually became pretty decent over a year or two as people switched to broad band!

I somewhat agree, if your (sales) business requires hosting lots of product images then you foot the bill for hosting.

Abusing a free image hosting site to boost your profit margin is taking the Michael.

However could they just not have disabled 3rd party links to eBay, Amazon, Etsy and stuff???

Surely they must be able to calculate where the majority of traffic is coming from and who are the most prolific users??

Once the advertising revenue dries up and the users leave the company will go bust.

They (allegedly) have some 15 billion images, which means they have (and are paying for) computers and infrastructure to store 15 billion images.

If the money and the users leave they still have to pay their overheads, they can't easily shrink that down as fast as they can shed users.

I have read from posts on other sites that people have paid up and still not everything works or is accessible. I think their days are numbered and they will become a piece of internet history

Were they expecting all hot linked images to become visible again??

Only your own hot linked images become visible, those from other people who have not paid will stay locked.

You only pay if you want other people to see your images, if you want to see all the blocked images you're out of luck, that ain't happening.
