Ah right, with you now and yes, good thinking - though not so useful in my case when i've not got the thing to scan in the first instance.

 

I'm going to roll with CAD, card, trial and error!

I uploaded my model of the console on grabcad. The dimensions are from a drawing I found online. I haven't made mine yet so I can't say how accurate the dimensions are.
