Why won't a sandwich plate between the filter housing and filter not for on a mini?

I have never seen it done, what is the issue?

Off hand, it makes it difficult to remove and replace the Oil Filter.

but which sandwich plate?

between filter and housing or between housing and block.

both have issues.

I was referring to the one between the housing and the block.

that was also my first thought. but then there are also the ones going between the filter and the housing either as a standalone part or as part of an oil cooler take off. but most of these are of a size that need a distance piece between block and housing and then drop the filter down as well causing issues with the oil filter.

DSN filter housing with temp take off threaded to suit your sender for the gauge.

best option out there.

I should have clarified, i meant the sandwich plates between the filter and filter housing. I have found one with built in thermostat and the take offs for a cooler.

Is the oil filter the only issue, I guess a short filter would fix that?

check diameter as well as many (most) that I have looked at will require a stand off for the housing as well as they are just too big.

never designed for the Mini.

On my Rover V8 engine Cobra I seem to remember using a thermostatic take-off from the original filter position with pipes to a cooler and a remote filter mounting in a convenient place. Is that possible on a Mini? I think it was all Mocal.

When I did have a cooler and a temp gauge on the oil, I fitted a Tee piece to the Inlet side of the cooler and plumbed the gauge in to there. Same could be done on the outlet if you prefer to see the cooler side, but I wanted to see if I had cooked the oil.

Looking at where I would fit cooler today, space is extremely limited, where I intended to fit it (behind the grill) I have all sorts of wiring/ oil lines and not to mention 4 throttle bodies in the way.

It is possible but tighter than I thought.
