I purchased a '88 classic Mini with a Vauxhall Corsa electric PAS conversion kit installed.  The kit has covered approximately 1300 miles.  Whilst driving the car at 30 mph the steering suddenly went heavy, and the PAS stopped working.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any suggestions?

I fitted a new 50amp fuse and this made no difference.

I don't want any criticism for having PAS installed in a classic Mini.  I purchased the Mini with this kit installed and I would like to retain it.

If you do a google search, its not uncommon for the electric PAS to fail on Vauxhalls.

Assuming it's got some sort of speed sensor that may be the part that has failed as you said you were going 30 and it stopped working. I know you can fit them with a hard wired switch. I recommend you have a google and see what you can come up with.

But I would say fitting a 50amp fuse wouldn't be the best idea unless of course that's the normal one then please ignore that comment

It probably is the normal size fuse/mega fuse for the application.

Alex, try 16vminiclub as alot of them do the conversion with engine conversions, they may have more information.

50 amp fuse is correct for the application
