This chap’s come up with a nice sequential setup and recently.

I wonder how he selects reverse.

Nice, shows it can be done! The throw looks quite long on each shift though, I'm hoping for something more short shift.
and that is on a standard gear box.

Reverse will be the other side of neutral R - N - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
Certainly looks like a useful piece of kit.
Sounds a bit clunky and maybe needs to be a bit smaller...but credit to him it works

Seriously though given the probable demise of fossil fuels it seems a bit pointless.

A few years back, I juggled the 4 speed cogs of a Honda bike into a Mini gearbox casing.
It wasn't absolutely fabulous. My chain drive reverse needed syncro. It was clunky changing up as the engine didn't loose revs quickly enough. The teeth were only made for 350, not 1300 and an old 4 syncro Mini box felt like a Rolls Royce when I put it all back together.
I did start to put BMW. K1100 5 speed gears into the casing, but apart from bragging at the motor club, what's the point.
