I have a factory spec Italian job apart from a stage one kit if you have any questions or want any specific photos.

The seats have a little Italian flag tag sown in them, that's the hardest thing to get hold of if they are missing.

They had a lot of cheek making the Italian Job Minis, because BL. as I think they were at the time, were utterly uncooperative with the film makers, who had to buy the cars from main dealers at normal price and fit them out themselves. What a missed marketing opportunity! But BL always did have a corporate death wish.

Just mentioning that because it may be that copyright prevented them from copying the exact configuration in the film, and they could expect no cooperation whatsoever from the film makers.

Funnily enough, Fiat, some of whose vehicles may have been involved, were much more cooperative, even allowing use of the factory roof. They understood how to market their products, and get free publicity.

If I had the choice between an Italian Job and a Mayfair I would take the Italian Job, even if it was £500 more, but only if I had no plans to modify it. Just my personal opinion on values. Any special, as long as it can be maintained into the future as that special, should be worth a small price premium.

I think we were well into Rover ownership by the time the Italian job minis were made and I doubt they wanted to associate themselves with BL much.

That will want a fair bit of work to bring it back to it's best.

I'll start the ridiculous bidding at £1750. Am I close?

That looks like that'll need a scuttle and wings from here. Reckon the sills might be a bit crispy too. I am guessing the seller has what I describe as "Rare Mini" syndrome where they instantly think it's worth 3 times as much because it's exclusive. I reckon £2750 sadly.

Oh yeah, and the grille is wrong  ;D

"Rare Mini" syndrome indeed. Did they think it was in a the bleeping film or something? £5k is delusional...  :ohno:

In bought this one a month or so ago for 5k, it seems pretty solid and has been restored by a previous owner and had mot and runs well, all new nuts and bolts and brake lines etc, it looks like it's had new front end, door skins etc although the paint job is ok it's a bit orange peel so is not a professional job, I'm going to leave it for a year or so and maybe try and and find a garage for a self prep paint job in the future once I see how it holds out, 5k is silly money for that :)

Before and now I have slightly changed it, I have kept all the original wheels etc so could remove the wheels and spots and put some black bumpers etc on it should someone want to put it back original. For me it's a bit of fun that will sit in the garage and come out on dry days.

Cheers, I'm probably being really harsh on the paint work but I used to do a fair bit with paint years ago and I see so much wrong with it, it's great fun and good to get the mini bug back after 15+ years away, I was a bit tipsy on eBay when I bought it on a wim on a Friday night haha, I was looking at mk1 escorts but realised I don't have the budget anymore!!
It was a better buy that a 944 I bought a couple of years ago haha.

I should keep off eBay when I have cracked the jd :)
