I am in the current process of buying new wheels for my mini as the current ones are not my cup of tea, I believe they're called pepper pots, I was just curious what the difference between them were between them, is it just weight or something?

as far as i am aware:

Minilite are the original company who deigned the famous wheel - there are lots of copies however under that name.

Superlite and Ultralite are newer designs of the wheel under new companies, i have ultralites and they are superb value if that counts for anything.

I'm sure someone can give a lot more detail though!

I'm sure superlite and ultralite wheel weigh less than the original minilite (rover wheels). I've got Superlite 13's on mine and they are unbelievably lite!! (less than 12" steel spare for sure.)

According to their website

The original Minilite wheel, was probably the most successful competition wheel of the 1960’s and 70’s. As the name suggests, it was originally developed as a magnesium competition wheel for the then revolutionary new Austin ‘Mini’, but its instant success meant that it was soon to be seen on many of the serious race and rally cars of that era. A new iconic style was born, and to this day, all genuine Minilite wheels are made to that original classic design. Manufactured exclusively at our premises in the UK, Minilite wheels are ‘Low-Pressure’ die cast, in high grade aluminium alloy; machined on the latest CNC equipment, 100% pressure tested, and finally powder coated for maximum protection against the elements.

I think its just a way to dodge copyright at the end of the day, like how cheap brand food items have similar names to the originals. Cheap marathon bar is a runner etc.

The actual style of the wheels can vary a lot, especially around the rim area. Best thing to do is go for what you like the look of. And what fits... forget the names

I like the style of the original 10" Minilight and the Rover 12 and 13 Minilight / Sportspack styles. I think a lot of the aftermarket copies look cheap and less "pure".

I've just bought some 7x13 Ultralites for my car, they have a positive ET10 offset which sit nicely inside the Sportspack arches. The Superlights in 7x13 are ET-7 which stick out quite a lot. The rally specials I have on at the minute are ET-7 offset and I don't like the wheel protruding the arch, plus i'm assuming it's hammering the wheel bearings and suspension components more too. There do seem to be a lot more cars with the Superlights though. Personal taste I suppose.

These are my Japanese export spec. Minilite Mk 11 6x10 alloys with deeper dish ET-15 offset and fitted with Dunlop R7 165/70x10 tyres with the classic 1960's Dunlop CR65 tread pattern. They are made by Minilite Wheels in the UK and were orginally made in small batches for the Japanese market but are now available from Minispares in UK, see link below.

Mine is a 98 jdm spi, still running with factory wheels 4.5 x 12, just wonder if I need to modify the fenders to fit the minilite wheels.
