Painting Subframes

Have stripped my front and rear subframes back to bare metal and was wondering what primer and paint to use on it now
Would like it in a contrasting colour to the paintwork
Won't be used through winter or rainy days
So doesn't need to be the toughest stuff out there
Cheers

galvanising would be good but make sure its done at a reputable place as it can warp them if not done correctly. Ive used POR15 on various under body components of several cars and its ben fantastic. You apply it straight to bare metal and it can also be painted over. Its far FAR superior to hammerite!

I'm quite new to the Classic Mini theme, but have restored several MGBs. When I restored my own MGB 20 years ago I used Hammerite primer, then colour coat. Not many people know that they make a primer. It contains ground glass. They did it in two colours at that time. I used both colours. Whole floor pink, then whole floor brown before I used the top coat. Hammerite on it's own can be quite brittle and chip.
20 years later there is hardly a mark on my floor, inside or out. MOT inspectors sometimes call their colleagues to show them the finish!

Don't waste your money on the new hammerite, It's like water. I used a tractor enamel on mine, can't remember the make.

I always powder coat them It's cheap here in California, don't know about cost around your way? As many different colours available as you could want and it gets media blasted so you can be sure there's no rust under that nice shinny finish......................Just had two rear frames done in black (boring) cost was $110 that's about 88 squid..........

I had both my subframes media stripped, zinc primer coated and then powder coated in matt black.
They will probaly out live the shell.
My front subframe was an original 1977 and the rear was a brand new genuine, the finish on the rear one was shocking so had it stripped.

Was toying with the idea of actually doing the entire car in it at one point.
