A twin box RC40 will be fine, It's the 2" centre exit DTM's you'd want to steer clear of.

Haha yeah I used to have a Sportex centre exit DTM! Sounded lovely around town, bloody horrible on the motorway though  then I went back to the peashooter. Ahhh bliss :P

That's nice of you to offer, Karl :D

Did mine last week
took about 4 hours to do, which isn't too bad.. One issue we found is that the nuts that held the LCB and the inlet manifold on wouldn't clear the Fletcher LCB, bit of filing down to fit around the exhaust piping solved that though.

Let me know how the decat sounds, i'm half tempted to do mine.

It can be a lot easier if the studs in the head are replaced by 5/16" x 1.25" long hexagon head set screws. Apart from making it so much easier to fit initially, with bolts in place of studs the head can be removed without disturbing the exhaust when a head gasket needs changing.

I've recently pinched this idea - turns a fiddle into a doddle (oo-er) :-)

I've done this for years. In fact I started doing it after working on the Mk.1 Cortina GT and finding that a head gasket could be changed in about 30 minutes as the inlet and exhaust system did not need to be disturbed to get the head off.

As above, that method saves so much time!! No bolts for me though, just extract the studs. Also, i have 2no. 3/4" long brass nuts (no idea where i got them from) to use underneath the inlet so it's loads easier to get a spanner on it.

Those nuts are readily available at most Mini parts places (and lots of other places too)
