I have been plodding along with the prep.
It's a long and laborious task and most is not worthy of photographing.
The main part of the latest prep has been to the front wings.
It's really hard to photographing shallow depressions and ripples so i circled them to show
The top ones were as simple to sort as pushing the lowest point of the depression up and then dressing around it to bring it back to level.
And then a quick file up
The ones at the front should have been the same process but.....
Filler.
I stopped and gave the whole area a through look over and has actually had a replacement section of wing let in. I'm happy that a good repair has been done to it so i shall just reshape the filler in there which is slightly the wrong shape and keep it as is.
Here is the finished result
A fine skim was required along the bottom to even out some very very slight imperfections.
The other wing was sound as a pound with just some minor rust tracks at the front which all cleaned back lovely and then some rippling across the arch.
It was hard to see by eye even with the paint polished up but a quick block revealed the truth
Just a minor skim of finisher sorted that. I neglected to take a picture but one of the pics coming up show it.
I made a start sorting out the issues with the front panel next. I couldn't finish the repairs because we have a new guy in this week who is using my welder for a big job.Ill post that in another update when i get back to it.
Next up, I wanted to make sure that the doors didn't need anymore work by checking that the quarter windows sit nicely against the screen.
Nothing worse than when these don't line up nicely.
First up, screen in
And then i bolted the quarter windows onto the doors and checked the gaps
Lovely
And lovely
Whilst I had these in, I thought now would be a good time to fit the roll cage.
I wanted to check the fit of the roof and make sure that it cleared the cage etc so perfect time to do all that.
In with the cage (just resting in place) and on with the hard roof
Loads of room
I feel I may get shot for this but everytime I was looking at the Midget with the hard top on, It put me in mind of one of these.
Everything stripped back off and cage mounts driled and all bolted up
That's all for now.
Cheers
Ben
