It is a delight, the midget is the second car Ben has restored for us. You need to meet him to see how enthusiastic and positive he is and how good he is at his job.
The Isle of Wight is easy to get to from London, train from Waterloo to Portsmouth then a short ferry crossing which is lovely on a sunny day, then a bit of a trek across the island

Hi Ben
Have you had experience of the local media blasting company? As I would prefer it to be blasted than chemical stripping but I understand that you can get panel distortion if using the wrong media or being a bit heavy handed
Thanks

We had an E-type done there a few years back and they were very good
I would request that they don't do the flat panels. The main areas needing doing are underneath, inside and the engine bay/ front wheel arches etc.
The wings would be stripped by me and by hand so they won't be blasted and obviously the doors are to be re-skinned although i may remove the old skins and send the frames in.
I hope that helps.
Cheers

Hi Ben I've spoken to Peter May and they suggest poly bushes, negative camber trunions, 400 lbs rated springs and uprated 5/8" anti roll bar so I'll be raiding the piggy bank over the weekend and you'll get a box of of nice shiny bits later in the week
Excellent.
I shall look forward to having a look when it arrives
Hi Ben,
did you manage to get a photo of the Peter May bits?
cheers

The Midget went away for a short trip to Godshill to visit the blasters.
First, i needed to drop the rear axle out so here it is fully stripped
And here it is being loaded up
Excuse the poor photos, I didn't take them.
The blaster is working across the weekend to get it done so I am going to go over on Sunday and see it before he primes it up.
Then it can come back to the workshop and i can get underway
Cheers

I asked him to take some photos as i couldn't make it to his place on Sunday as planned.
He is sending them over once the job is complete.
I should be getting the shell back tomorrow as he had to leave finishing the inside because he ran out of media due to the underside taking much longer and much more material to strip than he anticipated.
As soon as i get the photos through, ill post them up along with some of my own of it back at my workshop.
Have you finalized the goodies we spoke about yet?
Cheers
Ben
