looking good - I've quite fancied building a midget with a Monza (Sebring type) body for some time. One day maybe.
They are very cool I did think about it for BAP but wasn't brave enough

At last, seats ordered through Merlin Motorsport, Wiltshire, really helpful. answered all my questions and got back to me the same day about delivery costs to IoW. Only draw back is they'll be a couple of weeks

Today is the last day of my holiday.
I thought I had mentioned that I had booked myself onto the Midget for the majority of August with the view to completing it.
There will be loads of daily progress coming up
I have a small amount of sealing up to complete and then the colour will start going on
Cheers

Hi Ben,
I'm sure you did tell me but that's what happens when you get over 50, you forget stuff. I don't remember what I had for breakfast most days

I have managed to get about 70% of the sealing up done.
Once the remaining sealer is finished, I shall stonechip the underside, top coat it and then I can paint the inside and engine bay.
6 Litres of paint arrived today so everything needed Is now here
My new glamorous assistant Dave is going to strip and prep the engine and rear axle on Thursday so we will soon have bits ready to refit too!
Cheers

Great job Ben!

The sealing up is now complete.
I ended up turning the shell upside down to make life easier
And then we carried it into the spray booth to finish up and mask ready for stonechip
I didn't start the stonechipping today as it was the wrong end of the day and I want to apply the top coat before the stonechip fully cures so it will all be done together in the morning.
I did crack open the paint and do a spray out card to check the colour.
It was really hard to photograph but it's the correct shade so we are ready to go!
Cheers

So first thing this morning, this happened
I couldn't overcoat the stonechip for a couple of hours so I made a start on sorting out the insides of the wings
Partway through stripping them back, I found quite a lot of surface rust under the paint and lashings of thick underseal towards the front.
There is some pitting and in the first picture, you can see where the repair panel has been welded in at some point.
New wings would have been nice as striping these ones back is alot of work but at £1100 for a new pair, it's not really sensible.
I found a small rust hole on the front
And the return lip wasn't too clever either
I cut it all out and let in new metal
I finished cleaning back the inside of the wing
And then treated it to kill off any remaining rust in the pitted areas
And then I topcoated the underside of the shell
That will need a few days to harden off fully before I can tip it back and paint the topside so ill use that time to get the panels ready.
Cheers
Ben
