Hello,

I need some help because I will change my head gasket in a few weeks.

So it will be the chance for modding/tuning it a little to get a few little more horse power of my MPI ! :mmkay:

Can you tell me what to do :

skimming to head ? And how many ?

Polishing  / porting the head ? Difficulty ? Time with a dremel ?

Wich head gasket  (AF460 / BK450 / TAM1521 or other) ?

Thanks for the help

Eric from France.

I ruined a head once tryng to port it myself.

Probably best to get a stage 3(?) head, LCB and 1:5 roller rockers. Oh and a fuel pressure regulator. Basically what made my MPI an 'S'

CNC porting is where it's at. Not entirely sure which companies do it for the a series heads. I would definitely lap your valves back in to their seats. Made a massive difference to a mates mini when I did it. Skim only if it is warped. Otherwise a clean up is all that is needed.

porting the inlet valve and the guide boss does it makes a stage 2 ?

I found someone able to do it for me, but not sure if it is significant on gains.

I tried to find a modded cylinder head for MPI (stage 3)  and also a high lift rocker 1.5 on second hand but never seen one for sale on the forum... :shy:

or on the Bay

true, but I would not by one without proof of purchase as I would not want one that someone had been playing with.

it might be worse than standard.

it is also a bit more than "stage" 2

This, unless you know the seller well or they provide a ton of decent paperwork you've no idea what you're buying.

I'm sure anyone could slap some Blue Hammerite on an A-series head and attempt to pass it off as modified.

Hello yes they are very good quality. There is a lead time of 4-6 weeks though as we have a backlog of work currently.

Cheers Scott
