Love this, proper sleeper. Are you sure theres enough clearance between the tyre and rad shroud? especially if you're cornering hard.

Loving this so far, real tidy work! You have way more patience than I do with detail!

Is a bit of an optical illusion, has a lot more clearance is real life. Also it is sitting pretty much on the bump stops.

Finished getting the rad all plumbed in.

This is what underneath the roof looks like

The inlet clears the alternator with plenty of room, had to make a pipe out of steel to get the angles needed for one of the hoses.

Got the glass in, just need to do the locking strips. Theres a few ways to do this, we did it by putting the seal in the car then putting the bottom of the glass in as best we could and then with some levering in with a screwdriver, a lot of pushing and pulling from inside and out it went in no problem.

Also got the mounts for the bonnet pins done.

Did the engine wiring before, now have spent about 8 hours sorting the mini side of things, is all neat tidy and works as it should and as always any questionable wiring has been removed and replaced.

Brilliant build, colour really suits the car. What’s the spec of the engine??? Any body mods? (Other than no inner wings)

Thank you, engine is standard apart from air filter and exhaust, they make 100bhp and 100ft/lbs as standard. I have another engine to go in at some point with ported and polished head, 285 cam and arp rod bolts, with either twin 40's or bike carbs, probably a job for next winter though.

Only other body mods required for the conversion is a small bulhead box to fit the standard gear selector mechanism on the gearbox. You can actually fit the engine with a fixed front end and only a little trimming of the inner wings.

Will post a full update soon but it is now taxed and MOT'd!

Nice, I’ve got no inner wings and a removable front. Dont want to cut into the body work to much

Bet the fifth gear is brilliant on the motorway. Whats it like rpm wise with the 10’s...?

Should be about 3500 rpm at 70 mph, I think it is possible to get a even longer 5th gear

Thank you. Had one from somehwere else but fit was not good at all. This one is from ABS motorsport and fits perfectly, sits right in the gutters and you can't really tell it's fibreglass. We chopped the old one out like this.

XKRtSD.jpg

Test fitted the roof, sanded down a couple of high points, this was most cosmetic as I have no headlining. Put Tiger Seal on the old remaining metal roof, put fibre glass roof. Then some people advise not to do this but we tightened it down with ratchet straps, you have to be careful and not to it too tight as it will bow out form where the straps are. Then you just fill round the edge with your finger like you would bathroom sealant.

Carpet is in.

Tracking and toe is done but still needs camber and castor.

Given it a good clean, will be on the show and shine at London to Brighton.

New ECU ready for new engine.

Is called a Speeduino, is basically a mega squirt but a bit more DIY and a lot cheaper. Is wired into existing ECU plug so will be plug and play.

Ready for new engine to go in which is E16SE, ported head, C16SE inlet, red top injectors, 288 cam, ARP rod bolts, uprated fuel pump. Might get a lightened flywheel to go in. Should be going in over the winter.
