just found this on the interwebs while browsing exhaust stuff..

Was wondering a few things.
1) Is this road legal in the UK?

2) Can i buy one or will i be having to make one?

3) would it be too loud as my mini isn't exactly quiet as it is?

I'm just curious is all about this really. seems like it might be a bit of fun for certain times and i do quite fancy the idea of being able to change how my car sounds on the fly.

I've been to exhaust shops where they have those on cars usually attached to another pipe coming out the side

It'll be pretty loud as you're basically making a straight pipe

If i do decide to go ahead it would go between the 1st and the 2nd box on the system, i knocked the exhaust off at the flexi-pipe monday and I don't want it that loud, as much as I would like too it was far too loud. Did sound good though haha.

how quickly do you want to get pulled over?

secondly do you want your car to run worse?

these are normally fitted to "road legal" drag cars so they can bypass the silencers.

You will have to fit a pipe from there to the rear of the car though.

How would you fit it between the 2 boxes ? Open under the car is a huge fire hazzard

Like mentioned, just an idea.
If i were to do it, i would use stainless steel and instead of it straight out the valve it would have it facing towards the road.

The latest MINI Cooper S Works 210 comes with a factory fitted exhaust bypass valve as standard......

Combined with the freer flowing, Bluetooth controlled exhaust, the MINI Cooper S Works 210 sounds as good as it looks. A simple double press of the Bluetooth controller opens a valve that bypasses the rear exhaust silencer**.

** Please note that the Bluetooth controller for the rear exhaust silencer is for track use only.

Some of the sportier new Mercs have bypass pipes on them too with a button on the dash to bring the noise

and as most tracks have noise restrictions due to the NIMBYs I can see people being asked not to use it or being puller from the track.

I've got one on my car :) see my build thread for more details
But it was linked to my megajolt so lowered the hard rev limiter,
Purely for fun and had no performance benefit
