Chassis plate should be located on radiator surround, should start with CA2S7-***
body number usually on front slam panel but easily lost when any repairs done,
FE number should be on inner wing where the radiator surround is spot welded to the inner wing.
My 1962 mk1 also has a number on the drivers side floor pan, but again easily lost during repairs.

The link below should take you to a good engine bay shot of a Mk 1 Cooper S showing the items you asked about. Many of the other details are not correct for a 997 Cooper as it wouldn't normally have a brake servo or oil cooler etc.

As mentioned above, the chassis plate and FE number tag are to the right of the radiator as you look at the picture.
There is a close up picture of the chassis plate although it is on upside down

The body number tag is on the front panel by the horn mounting.

Also, I was just checking the chassis and engine numbers on my V5 against the heritage certificate I have just received.
I think on the V5 the engine and chassis numbers have been entered the wrong way around.
On V5 it reads:
engine number - C-A257439780
Chassis number - 9FSAH23659
Heritage cert reads:
Engine number - 9F-SA-H/23659
Chassis Number - C-A2S7/439780
I am confused, which is correct?
anCan anyone help?

That is a common problem. The heritage certificate is obviously correct, but many records were transferred from written copy when the DVLA went computerised and as a result 7s became Ss and much more. It does not detract from either the value or authenticity of a car.

I will have to buy another chassis plate now though as I have had it stamped incorrectly.
What type of chassis plate would be correct for the car? And does anyone know who supplies them. I think I had an incorrect/later chassis plate anyway.
