Here's the finished item. I like using up bits knocking about the garage.Attached File  20170806_174851.jpg   46.16K   16 downloadsAttached File  20170806_174827.jpg   52.2K   17 downloads

I was going to make a frame to house a jerry can, but it's not a priority. Plus I need somewhere for the dogs to get in and out. Do need to get a rear number plate light on si I can get the loom sorted.

Had another look at the tank today to take the sender out and test the resistance range so I know what gauges to get. Saying it was a right mess was an understatement. The bolts holding the sender in place were ok apart from one which snapped. I happen to have a spare 7 gallon tank so I think I'll cut out the flange off that and weld it to the new tanknd mount so i can use a standard but modified sender.Attached File  20170807_115218.jpg   105.52K   10 downloadsAttached File  20170807_115208.jpg   79.13K   9 downloadsAttached File  20170807_120640.jpg   74.75K   6 downloadsAttached File  20170807_120646.jpg   90.89K   2 downloads

I've emptied out the tank and there was rusty water in there too. Any ideas how to clean out a tank. Thinking of of just getting the karcher and just giving it a blast. Should get rid of any fuel vapours too ( as I'm welding! )

should do it. you do have a fire extinguisher to hand. i would also get some of that tank sealant treatment that Frost were on about.

Or get a new alloy tank made up?

Been cleaning the inners of my block with a some compressed air and I'm sure something came flying out of this little hole. It looks very clean as if there was a ball bearing in it or something. Could anyone put my mind at rest.....is something supposed to be in there?

there is nothing that passes through the block and gearbox other than bolts and studs and Oil in the only point that has an O ring fitting.

no idea why there would be a hole there as it is too far in to come out anywhere for a fixing. but if there was a drilling there it may have had some crud old gasket in it.
