Whilst watching a generic zombie series on telly, I noticed something on a Hummer - grab handles on the bonnet. I'd bought and painted 2 moke front handles a year ago which I did not use in the end. Now i have found a use, it was a styling thing at first, but they actually make the bonnet easier to lift off. Job done.Attached File  20190727_171910_resized.jpg   70.15K   1 downloads

Air filter box for the cold air induction finished. And works!Attached File  20190802_141552_resized_1.jpg   76.91K   5 downloadsAttached File  20190802_141558_resized_1.jpg   96.76K   7 downloads

Went for a spin tonight and I'm shaking. Wheel spinning in the dry, in second gear is a bit nuts.
Its amazing the difference in what ride height makes. Massive torque steer when at full height at the front. Definitely slamming it when on the road and raised to get over things.

Hope everyone is having a good time in Bristol. I've been have fun and games with the running of the rat. Was running great last week, started it up this weekend and runs like a dog. Ahhh..... Stuart at vmax told me to set the timing to 25 degrees at 4000 rpm with the vacuum advance off. Fair enough. But when I connect the vacuum pipe back on, it idle at about 30 degrees advance. Umm...

Please point out where the vac is attached to the inlet.

Did not start well with the farmer changing things but I guess the organisers may not have been too good at the communication with them.

Many tents succumbed to the wind. It rained. There was great music and much cider consumed.

I cut it short as I needed a clean up before the 10 hour drive.

Vac is tee'd off the boost gauge pipe. The boost pipe is off the outlet of the charger.

I tested my sports gold coil and its 2.6 ohms primary 8.7 k ohms secondary. I tested it as number 1 plug was wet and my strobe was having issues picking up a signal on lead 1.

You need to have a look at the VAC can and see what is stamped on it.

So what is the advance at idle with the vacuum advance disconnected? I can't see how it's adding that much advance at idle, they shouldn't add much more than 5-10 degrees depending on the unit? - does the vacuum unit have a number stamped on it?

it's at 25 too. So vacuum advance dizzys have centrifugal advance springs in them or do they rely on vacuum alone

They have both mechanical and vacuum.

How can you have 25 degrees at idle and at 4000rpm? Did you remove the mechanical advance?

I just set the advance to 25 when reving to 4,000. It's a power spark electronic ingnition dizzy. With the vac pipe off it stays at 25 through out the rev range and as soon as its put back on it advances 10 deg (at idle). The positve boost pressure retaards it back down to 25 at high revs. But 35 deg at idle is a little high at best
