I run the engine dry until the head is warm to the touch, then cheque torque and fill with coolant.
I would also check your torque wrench is reasonably accurate.

funny you say that about the torque wrench had a look last night for places to get it calibrated. I have drained the water, do you think it is worth doing that warm up process now it has leaked?Obviously for it ro leak there the water must be tracking from somewhere else as there are no water jacket ports at that point.

A phone call to stuart and transpires it's a leak on the inlet manifold. Needed some blue stuff on both sides of the exhaust manifold gasket on just the inlet ports. 20181008_162223_resized.jpg 39.57K 3 downloads
Done.

Getting a price for a full roll cage, so a bit of calculating on the new corner sizes required.

They do alot of secret work at BMS and when I walked in there, I was greeted by a prototype Aston Martin shooting brake. It looked superb. Wasn't allowed to take pictures though (for obvious reasons)

Look what I have just seen.
I like that. An Axe that's what I need! I've got some little storage boxes to put on the the front wing too. Single spot light looks good.
B T W - I have decided to go down the hydraulic suspension route so I can raise it up at the flick of a switch. So watch this space!

Covered the seats with a welding/fire proof blanket. Excuse the welds, wanted to make sure I had good penetration.

Bit of a sketchy moment welding next to a vented fuel cap, so took the cap off, 2 layers of plastic and a shed load of duck duct tape.

Was going to chop off the mounting points off the old roll cage but have decided to put new ones on using more bolts. Also hopefully keep the old one more sellable. Waiting for the new laser cut plates to arrive before I can crack on.

re the fuel cap i would have left it on and made sure there was a metal sheet over it. hot rocks will go through just about anything.
