I need to modify mine too... winds me up every time I look at it that it says turbo when it’s supercharged!

I bought a boost gauge which I intend to customise (of course!). Just wondered if this looks right. It's a cheapo TIM one, surely the needle should be sitting on zero! I bought an old TIM gauge prior to this one to take apart and that one had the needle in the same place Too!!?? Anyone had any experience with these?

think on where is the air pressure Zero?

i think zero on the scale would mean standard atmospheric pressure rather than absolute vacuum...
unless your garage is buried deep underground, i'd expect the guage to be reading zero - maybe once it's fitted and exercised a little it might settle to the correct resting position

i would not, the lower you go the higher the pressure. it is reading atmospheric pressure ish. when fitted it will show what the engine is making compared to atmospheric pressure.

i'd expect the gauge to show 0 atm ('boost pressure') at normal atmospheric pressure.
the photo appears to show the gauge indicating about 0.4 atm - which i think would equate to approximately 6psi boost. that's well outside the range of normal meteorological air pressure variations

JJC race and rally say it may have moved whilst on the post and a bit of pressure would reset it. But it hasn't worked

It's always going to measure relative pressure. There's no sealed vacuum, just the atmosphere on one side and your inlet manifold on the other - it should always read zero if the engine's not pumping air.
Send it back if you can. If not, it does look to be reasonably accurate comparing the pressure increase recorded in your pics so you could pull it apart and refit the needle.

I'm going to suggest to the seller for a bit of discount if I fix it.It's always going to measure relative pressure. There's no sealed vacuum, just the atmosphere on one side and your inlet manifold on the other - it should always read zero if the engine's not pumping air.

... I suppose it's just possible something is obstructing the mechanical bits of the gauge. You could apply some vacuum to confirm it can do a full sweep - bearing in mind it would read high by the same amount if it is the fit of the needle.

..a hypobaric chamber to house your boost gauge at -0.4atm so it reads true ?
