Just measured it and it's 0.99mm float. The retaining plate didn't look that worn though!

When buying the vernier gears I wasn't sure how to initially how to line them up before measuring the degrees. Glad to see a couple of dots!I need to get organised. Could have swore I had a crank pulley bolt. Doh! Judt had it order one from bullmotiff. Don't suppose anyone knows how many degrees a k500 cam should be set.

Wasn't sure whether to put the tensioner back on. Especially as the 2 chains are wider. So I'll leave it off(unless anyone tells me otherwise?).

Well, doing the timing is proving to be a pain in the arse. Having new cam followers with assembly lube round them, they are not exactly dropping back down when measuring push rod no.2. Could also do with a tool the mounts nicely on the clutch end of the crank to turn the crank. Is there such a tool or is it a case of making something up?

Looking to get the wiring in soon. I have the reminiscence of some old wires running from front to rear on the drivers side! Does anyone know what route the wires would normally take on a late 80s early 90s loom. Along the passenger floor or roof? Drivers or passenger side?

I followed the route of the Portuguese moke when I built my AMC. Battery down the O/S. Main clock wiring through bulkhead and wires to fuel tank and back lights down the N/S. I can take pics if it helps.

Thanks for that. I'll do it that way. I'd be interested in route from bulk head to the n/s box section with the tank in. Cheers

Well that's the cam timing done. I know these vernier timing gears make it super accurate, but they are a bit of a faf.

Got there on the end. Thought it was going to take about 20 goes. As soon as 118 lined up on the gauge, phew

Unfortunately I didn't order in a pre verto flywheel keyway, so a quick visit to minispares/David manners is in order tomorrow morning.

When putting a new clutch and flywheel on is wise to put something like copperslip on the crank to aid future disassembly?

On the taper?  No - clean and dry.

You could/should lap the flywheel on but make sure that you clean all the lapping paste off afterwards

If you need more let me know - the wires to the back follow the line of the fuel pipe and through the N/S box section to the rear lights.
