Well who'd a thought it. They're in and they move. Transpires 2 of the caps must have swapped themselves over in the middle of the night ages ago. Never thought the machining marks would match 2 pairs of rods.

I know. Think it was because they were that dirty when I took them off I thought I just 'make sure' I'll keep them together for now and then I'll clean em up and tipex them later. Couldn't find the Tipex!
I use a centre punch, clean or dirty, you can always mark them and always get them back in the same bores.

Glad you've got it sorted, easily done!
I just did my first engine rebuild and got one big end cap the wrong way round the first time

I know. Think it was because they were that dirty when I took them off I thought I just 'make sure' I'll keep them together for now and then I'll clean em up and tipex them later. Couldn't find the Tipex!

it that all mine does more than that. center punching can be an issue depending on where and how much of a animal you are. dremel is good.

Yes I know you do and I bet it sounds great but I assume you haven't centre punched yours. I didn't hit the centre punch with a sledge hammer either.

i did not build the short motor. i left that to Richard at Redline in Brighouse to do after his wedding and before his honeymoon while i put another engine together for him.
