I have a 65 Australian Mk1 with the roll up windows with quarter vents.  I am trying to replace the door latch/lock mechanism but I'm not able to get it out.  There is a lever system attaching the mechanism to the door handle and this seems to be pinning the latch mechanism in place.  Too add more to the fun, the lever system appears to loop around the window channel.  Any one know if I'm missing something here or do I just need to assert a little more force to get it out of the way.  I can get it disconnected from the door handle and the latch but still doesn't seem to be able to be moved out of the way to get the latch out.

I'll have to take a pic of my door and try to get it on here.  Thanks for any help.

65Aussie,

You're far better  off seeking advice/ answers/ parts from the Australian website,  Ausmini.com.au....

Cheers

It's been a very long time since I took one of these apart, but that linkage is called the Door Handle Lever Linkage. To 'disconnect' it, from memory, there's a C Clip on one side of it and the Square Door Handle Shaft need to be removed.

Also, maybe of some help, from the Aust factory Manual;-

EarlyAustDoorLockRemovalWM_zpsuwgzir83.j

but, much as I hate to say it, this is probably about the one item that is better explained and shown in the Gregory's Manual - if you can find one
