Hi,

I wonder if you can help me, I have hilos fitted and cones that are a few months old and want to set the ride height to standard.

Could anybody give me standard ride height measurements for a mini running on 12" wheels?

Thanks

For info: This knuckle has a spacer (4.3mm) built into it for use on 1989 onwards minis to increase ground clearance. When 12" wheels were first fitted in 1984 they used a packing washer 21A1845 to increase height but to save suspension height disasters they introduced this new knuckle:-

"Single most important parameter for 12 and 13 inch wheels on a Mini to get geometry ideal is the ride height. The height was raised in orde to get a better compromise between bump and rebound travel and the camber/ castor angles about the straight ahead. So a spacer was introduced into the knuckle joint with the introduction of 12in wheels, and the knuckle joint with a built in spacer introduced from 1990"

Best way is to look at the drive shafts going to the CVs. They should drop from the gearbox end to the CV by 1/2". After setting that, measure to the ground from the sill seem just behind the front arches. Then set the Rear 1" above that.

Thanks for these diagrams, do you have any idea how high the datum line of off the ground?

It's not helpful for what you want and that's not what the workshop drawing was provided for! The variations in tyres sizes alone don't help.
