when rover launched the 1275cc coopers the engine was moved forward about an inch to give more clearance for the carb around the bulkhead. this maybe worth considering ???

also, didn't the rear subframe for the injection models have different exhaust mounts ????

Whoops forgot the rear sub exhaust mounts - can be chopped off  or  left if unnecessary - the "conventional" exhaust mount holes are there on genuine  frames - can't speak for aftermarket ones.....

There are conversion brackets for using the "new" exhaust mounting arrangements on "old" subframes. As suggested, non-genuine new type subframes "may" have to be modified for old style mounts. I would suggest fitting 5/16" UNF Rivnuts for the front mount, the rear needing just a clearance hole for the 5/16" stud on the rubber mount.. But it may be best, unless there is evidence to the contrary, to always use the new type, which do seem to be better, and procure the exhaust accordingly.
