Watched this race on World of Sport when I was 16 so thought it was time to experience it some 40 years on.
Any work on the mini is on hold for this year or many years to follow.
Those people that are building a car keep up the good work it's a beast.

Took the plunge and booked to go the Bathurst 1000 in 2017, did not realise 4 nights accommodation and standard entry would cost £979 each no food!or flights.( She wants to go to a beach afterwards)

Very Jealous, I'd love to go to Bathurst one day, there and Laguna Seca.
I was looking at holidays to California the other day and was looking into doing a hire a car for a day at the track.
I know there's a long time between now and then but have an awesome time......

I went along this year with a bunch of mini people. We had a great time and it was the first year I've been out for the race (normally I watch it on the couch at home). It is a public road 95% of the year, so if you get a chance its great to experience the track for yourself.
Here are some photos I took this year if you're interested.

2017 is going to have the new "Gen 2" Supercars, none of which have been released yet that I've seen. It will be interesting to see the cars and teams competing next year!

If I was going again I'd probably get a grandstand ticket. Not sure what the price difference is like though! It looks to be in shade most of the day which would be a bonus.

We only were at the bottom of the mountain (might be different up the top) but we really needed to be near a big screen to keep on top of the action. Where we were you can't see a huge amount of the rest of the track. You can always trek around the place to a bunch of different areas, there is a bus that goes around the track and you can walk most of it too.
Interestingly driving Bathurst to Port Douglas would be 2384km and take you 27 hours non-stop. Australia is a huge place!

Thanks for the advice, the upgrade is another £170 each, but my partner will welcome a seat where she can drink her glass of wine in some comfort.
So only 289 DAYS 19 HOURS TO GO

if its shaded all day, then it's definitely worth it!
It gets hotttttt, and the sun burns unlike most other places

Last run in the mini before winter shut down, and almost lost it, a full 360 in full rush hour traffic ( after night shift and some winter frost as daily runner was off the road) It was like something out of a cartoon, cars going to the left and the right of me as I accelerate on to the slip road of the M8 MOTORWAY , but the police car that was 4 cars behind me took pity as I was now beached on some grass, they looked at the car and said OMG never seen anything like this ( thought my number was up after checking my tyre's they said on you go ) this time they kindly stopped the traffic allowing me to do a U turn against the oncoming traffic.
