does anyone knowof, or has anyone heard of any engine conversions being carried out utilising the new bmw mini powerplant?
I have noticed a great many engines including new cooper s spec engines with six speed boxes becoming available at what seems very realistic prices.

would it fit, would it work - am I just mad?

you can get anything in anywhere if you try hard enough. but i should imagine you will have to try very hard to achieve this. i bet the results would be worth it though :proud:

yup, daveX is right, anything is possible with enough money and patience and down right hard graft.

I'd imagine it's a fairly sizeable powerplant, so the first thing you need to think about is will it fit in the front, or is it gonnna be a rear wheel drive jobby.

the hardest part with these engin conversions is sorting out drive, once it's sat in a subframe and you have drive shafts hooked up, the rest is just finishing. Though things like exhausts are often custom jobs.

Do it mate! good luck! just don't put BMW badge on it :proud:

Personally I'd choose the Audi TT Quattro engine over the BINI engine anyday. 6 speed sequential box with double clutch, shifting in 0.2 seconds, nice!

Why does every one want a German engine?

stick with British and get a Lotus Espirit V8 lump in :errr:

If you can manage this, I ring the guiness book of records first then I'll drop my mini off at yours to do the same to mine :proud:

Actually the New Mini engine is a chrysler one, its not very good either, thats why they have changed it on the next model.

I imagine that a new cooper s engine would be easier to find and no doubt cheaper than one from an Audi TT.

Bini engine will give you that annoying whine of the power steering all the time!

But then the BINI won't have the double clutch or the 6 speed sequential box, and I believe the TT has slightly more power (but not sure about that)?

True, it would need widening no doubt, but I have a plan for that...
